EPPN: Pray, fast, act for environmental programs

[Episcopal Public Policy Network] Today, the 21st of August, we pray, fast, and act to protect funding for domestic and international programs that address the health effects of environmental degradation impacting the poorest among us.

PRAY for our nation’s elected leaders and for all who struggle with the impacts and effects of environmental degradation that result in hunger, poverty and death.

FAST to call attention to the needs and circumstances of those suffering from the impacts of air and water pollution, chemical exposure and natural disasters.

Share on social media using #PrayFastAct and @TheEPPN. Post a picture of a dinner place setting with the reason you are fasting this month.

ACT by urging your elected representatives to continue funding crucial programs that care for all of creation by addressing environmental degradation and its impact around the world.

Urge Congress to protect funding for domestic and international environmental programs!

    I will pray for congress to reduce poverty by passing pro growth economic legislation that benefits all Americans. I will pray for them to have the strength to reject politically motivated ecofascist pressure and junk science. Jobs, low taxes and cheap energy are the antidote to poverty, malaise and suffering.

      We’ve tried that before and found it wanting to say nothing of ignoring the warning of the Bible about greed, stewardship of the earth, and justice. I worry not so much about political correctness but about patriotic correctness like muzzling scientists and doctors.
      I wonder why the above speaker does trolling here.

    The EPPN is funded through our contributions to our local church. If you look at just the Episcopal Migration Ministries staff costs (2016-2018 budget) there are 30 employees at a cost ov over $6M/year. This is just one department. Then there is the Office of Govenment Relations which handles public policy and advocates for the laity to call their congressman for progressive issues like eco-justice, refugees resettlement, immigration and even issues over seas like the Palestinian problem. These people have nothing to do but stick there nose into goverment business and we pay them to do it. If you like it, starve yourself and keep contributing if not then stop or don’t complain about the political activism of the Episcopal Church.
