  1. James P Haney V says:

Bill instructed two generations in my family. First my late uncle, Richard Southworth, studied under Bill his senior year at Seminario Episcopal del Caribe (since he transferred there after being kicked out of VTS for marching at Selma). Then I had the good fortune almost three decades later to study under Bill during his final years at Seabury-Western. Truly a gentleman, a gentle man, and a scholar. Well done thou good and faithful servant.

  2. Canon Alonzo Pruitt says:

I was blessed and privileged to be a student of Father Haugaard’s at Seabury-Western. He was a brilliant scholar, a compassionate priest, and a walking example of class and excellence well blended. He didn’t teach subjects, he taught people, and he encouraged us to think, and to make history. He obvious love for our Lord, the Church, and his adored wife, and not necessarily in that order, were a joy to behold. Thirty years later, he is still one of the finest men I ever met, and one of the most humble men who ever generated awe.

  3. Will Smith says:

May you rest in peace, Bill, and rise in glory. Thank you for sharing you life with us and your vast knowledge at SWTS.

  4. I was blessed and give thanks for have been a student of his! RIP, Bill, and as you are welcomed with heavenly fanfare may you know that many, many people have been blessed by your time here on earth!

A great scholar, teacher, priest, and friend. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord.

  6. Sylvia Sweeney says:

Some of my fondest memories of seminary are of the small kindnesses Bill and Luisa showed me in those years. He was as deeply loved as a priest as he was respected as a scholar by Seabury seminarians, and because of Bill many of us will always have this profound sense of awe and appreciation when Elizabeth the first and Richard Hooker are mentioned. How could one help but love a church that could give us a Bill Haugaard as our mentor and teacher?

  7. Michael Hopkins says:

Bill was simply a nice guy and a very good teacher.

  8. Charles Weiss says:

Uncle Bill as I know him (he is my uncle and Godfather), is one of the best men I have ever known. He serves as a shining example of what every man, husband and father should strive to be. I will miss him dearly.

  9. Rev. Mark Middleton says:

Bill was a blessing to all of at Seabury-Western in the 70’s and holds a very special place in our heart and in the joy of our Risen Lord. May Light Perpetual shine upon him.
