A. Jeanne Finan called to Vermont cathedral

ens_021014_jeanFinanThe Rev. A. Jeanne Finan has been called as the dean and rector of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington, Vermont. She has served for the past six-and-a-half years as rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Asheville, North Carolina and prior to that at St. Mary of the Hills in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Her first Sunday at the cathedral will be March 30.

    Congratulations on your new appointment. I believe an uncle of mine, Davis Harrington, with his construction company built “your” cathedral. Davis was a Congregationalist, but pleased to know that our family was Episcopalian and delighted to hear about the new cathedral.
    I was the first woman rector in the Diocese of Texas in 1981, and served St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Houston for 22 years before I retired. Having been born on Martha’s Vineyard, my husband Sandy and I spend the summer months there in my childhood home.
