Registration is now open for the Episcopal Asiamerica Ministries National Consultation on September 27-October 1 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The theme of the event is Piko-Celebrate Christ, Community and Creation. Piko is the Hawaiian word for navel. “Jesus Christ is the Piko, the navel or center of our faith,” explained the Rev. Winfred Vergara, Episcopal Church Missioner for Asiamerica Ministries. “In Christ we share our faith and life, in Christ we build community, in Christ we care for God’s creation. Jesus the Piko of our faith is the center of our connectivity.”

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will preach at the opening Eucharist, celebrated by Diocese of Hawaii Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick.  Banquet speaker will be the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings, President of the House of Deputies.

Speakers and presenters include: the Rev. Canon Randolph Albano of St. Paul’s, Honolulu; the Rev. Canon Dr. Michael Barlowe, Executive Director of General Convention; the Rev. Dr. Bradley Hauff, Episcopal Church Missioner for Indigenous Ministries; the Rev. Peter Huang of Los Angeles;  the Rev. Merry Chan Ong, vice president of EAM Council; Bernadette Ellorin, executive director of Mission to End Modern Slavery; Bishop Prince Singh of Rochester; Bishop Allen Shin of New York; Bishop Melissa Skelton of the Diocese of New Westminster, Canada; Heidi Kim, Episcopal Church Missioner for Racial Reconciliation; the Rev. Dr. Kaleo Patterson of St. Stephen’s Wahiawa HI; the Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers, the Presiding Bishop’s Canon for Evangelism, Reconciliation and Creation Care; Jeremy Tackett, Digital Evangelist; and the Rev. Charles Wynder, Episcopal Church Missioner for Social Justice and Advocacy Engagement.

Group facilitators are conveners of the EAM Council: the Rev. Irene Tanabe, the Rev. Esther Yein Kim and the Rev. Anandsekar J Manuel. The liturgy is prepared by the Rev. Bayani Rico, president of the EAM Council.  Special features are the multicultural immersion at Polynesian Cultural Center and the commissioning of 70 mentors-on-training under the program ANDREWS (Asiamerica Network of Disciples, Revivalists, Evangelists, Witnesses and Servant-Saints), a pan-Asian mentoring program of Asiamerica Ministries.
