Trinity Episcopal Church is pleased to present an outdoor mural by Avery Kelly. The mural, located in the church garden, is open to the community and may be accessed through the gate on the southeast side of the building, off Stadium Drive.

The mural, covering 212 square feet, is meant to convey the goodness and serenity of God’s creation, and the idea of home or a place to belong. The painting features a walled garden-meadow theme and shows flora and fauna of Texas and the Southwest including a roadrunner, bluejays, and doves. Grasses and native plants such as cosmos, coneflowers and bee balm bring the scene to life, while morning glories climb up the garden’s wall to the painted sky and birds above, integrating the mural into its surrounding environment. Bible verses and pictorial references such an Easter lily (“consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these” Luke 12:27 NIV) and a quail family (“I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings” Matthew 23:37 NIV) are included.

Avery Kelly’s work features animals, landscapes and natural subjects. She holds an MFA Studio Art and earned her BFA from TCU. Her work has recently been featured in Historic Fort Worth’s Preservation is the Art of the City and the Taos Art Museum’s Club Fechin event.
