[Diocese of Texas] Last summer, the Diocese of Texas reported on an ambitious project, which began in the small east Texas city of Nacogdoches. Christ Episcopal Church rector, the Rev. Howard Castleberry, and the people of Christ Church were inspired to help drill water wells in Tanzania, where access to water is scarce and expensive.

After purchasing a drilling rig and all the necessary materials as well as training folks to use the equipment, the Tanzania Water Project finished drilling their first water wells this summer, restoring running water to the Anglican Diocese of Dar-Es-Salaam and drilling a new water well for a nearby village.

Castleberry is a former Pulitzer Prize nominated photographer, whose experience documenting the Somalian Civil War eventually led him to become an Episcopal priest. His passion for Africa remains as well as his ability to tell a story through images. He produced the fantastic video below, documenting the efforts of the Tanzania Water Project.
