Spring 2024 CALL Instructors

Looking to deepen your faith, grow your knowledge, or add to your ministry toolkit? CALL@CDSP has short online courses for you! 

The Center for Anglican Learning and Leadership at Church Divinity School of the Pacific offers affordable online learning opportunities throughout the year. Each class is designed so that you can participate at your own pace and on your own time. 

CALL courses are seven weeks, each week a separate lesson. Continuing Education Units are offered at the rate of 2 CEUs per course. Students from across the Episcopal Church and beyond join experienced online instructors in creating a classroom environment of respect and mutual learning. Courses are open to anyone, lay or ordained, of any denomination or none. 

The Spring 2024 session runs April 8 through May 27. The standard course rate is $245, with a discounted rate of $215 available for students from our partner local formation dioceses and members of the Association for Episcopal Deacons. The Prophets with Dr. Kamilah Sharp 

This course is a survey course of prophets in Ancient Israel and the texts of the prophets of the Hebrew Bible. Studying the language of the prophetic corpus, we will explore the historical, social, and political contexts of the writings and their meanings for the intended audience and readers today.

Missional Practices & Beloved Community with Dr. Kyle Oliver 

What does it mean to lead during a time of religious, sociocultural, and environmental upheaval? What can churches do differently to better reflect and nurture gospel values and God’s dream of a just, reconciled, Spirit-filled world? This course in missional leadership will ask these and related questions.

Attitudes of Care: Ecotheology in Practice with the Rev. Phina Borgeson 

Journey from lament to hope, exploring different dispositions—such as awe, curiosity, and offering—toward the more than human creation and our current ecological crisis. Each week a key reading will support an activity focused on participants’ places and contexts. Together readings and experience will provide rich material for forum conversations. Those engaged with creation care ministries in their communities, or planning them with their congregations, will find opportunities for deepening reflection and articulating the Christian reasons for concern and action.
