Diocese of South Dakota notified of successful canonical consent processEpiscopal Church Office of Public Affairs Posted Jul 11, 2019 |
The Episcopal Diocese of South Dakota has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry and Registrar of General Convention, the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, that Bishop-Elect Jonathan H. Folts has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3.
In giving consent to his ordination and consecration, Standing Committees and bishops with jurisdiction attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-Elect Folts ought not to be ordained as bishop, and that his election was conducted in accordance with the Canons.
The Rev. Dr. Jonathan H. Folts was elected Bishop on May 4. His consecration and ordination service will be on November 2.
