St. James Episcopal Church is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in beautiful Pentwater, Michigan.
The congregation of St. James is dedicated to the worship and service of Almighty God and to the furtherance of God’s Kingdom in this village, this county, and this region of the Michigan lakeshore area.
We are a small, but vibrant and financially strong church. Our year-round congregation consists of folks over 50. In the summer months the pews fill with younger vacationers and snowbirds. In 2023, our Parish donated over $20,000 to non- profit organizations in the Pentwater area.
St. James original service was led by Ottawa Chief “Shaw-Be-Co-Ung in 1858. The first service in our present Sanctuary was September 1883 and the building is in excellent condition today.
Our congregation seeks a part-time Rector, potentially someone looking to retire to Western Michigan, who through inspiring sermons and a welcoming atmosphere, will grow our numbers, allowing us to do even more in our community and county to expand our outreach efforts.
We pray our new Rector, through genuine enthusiasm will:
Be an inspiring Preacher who will connect God’s word to our everyday lives
By example, motivate our congregation in Pastoral Care
Have a physical presence in our village and county
Be an effective administer
Have a wonderful sense of humor |
