| POSITION DESCRIPTION The Director of Youth Ministry will be primarily responsible for overseeing and building programs for Calvary’s youth, working directly with youth and their families. She or he will need to be grounded in the ethos and worship of the Episcopal Church, spiritually mature, emotionally grounded, and able to love and mentor young people in their Christian life, regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any of the categories or identities that can tend to divide us. The responsibilities of our next Youth Director (YD) will be in service of forming a healthy and loving Christian community of young people and their families and integrating these people into the broader life of Calvary. Specifically, they are to include: • Oversight and administration of weekly Christian Formation classes and activities for grades 6-12, coordinating with the director of children and family ministry and associate rector for formation. With other recruited adults, YD will teach the Sunday morning class for high schoolers and lead fellowship activities mid-week. • Active support for and involvement in the lives of Calvary’s youth outside the church. This may include attending meaningful events such as recitals, concerts, sports games, etc. • Assist in preparing youth for Confirmation in coordination with clergy staff. • Direction of Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) and fellowship opportunities for young people. |
