On Thursday, August 16, Thursdays at 2, a favorite and popular feature produced by the Office of Communication, presents CARAVAN, an Episcopal Church-affiliated ministry, which uses the arts to build bridges between the creeds and cultures of the Middle East and the West.

Created by the Rev. Canon Paul-Gordon Chandler, who served in the Diocese of Egypt for 10 years as the rector of St. John’s Church in Cairo, CARAVAN’s exhibitions invite us to look beyond traditional models of interfaith dialogue to build relationships and understanding. The exhibition in the video is I AM, which features 31 premiere women artists from 12 countries in the Middle East. Alia Ali, one of the participating artists, shares her vision for her contribution to I AM, and Canon Chandler speaks about how he feels the Episcopal Church is positioned to embrace the arts to build peace.

Canon Chandler’s ministry with CARAVAN is supported by the Episcopal Church’s Mission Personnel Office and Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations Office.

For the past two years Thursdays at 2, produced by the Episcopal Church Office of Communication, showcased some of the many innovative ministries of the Episcopal Church. Beginning this fall, the Office of Communication will introduce two new video series: The Way of Love will explore the many ways people across our church are engaging with and practicing the Way of Love’s rule of life, and Inside the Episcopal Church, modeled after the popular Inside General Convention which ran daily during this year’s 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church. Both shows will be available on Episcopal Cinema -YouTube, a curated collection of Office of Communication videos.
