The Trump Administration’s report to Congress on the proposed refugee admissions for 2021 calls for a ceiling of 15,000 refugee admissions. This is the lowest ceiling in our country’s history and an abdication of our humanitarian leadership around the world. There are currently more than 79.5 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, 26 million of whom are refugees. According to the UNHCR, 1.4 million people need international protection through resettlement because of persecution, war, and violence.
