New Jersey accepting nominations for bishop

[Diocese of New Jersey] The Diocese of New Jersey Episcopal Election Committee (EEC) announced July 2 that it is seeking the names of men and women for consideration as the twelfth bishop of the diocese.

The person elected will succeed Bishop George Councell, who has served the diocese since 2003 is due to retire in November 2013.

There’s an online nomination system to expedite nominations and self-nominations during the July 2-31 nomination period.

The slate of nominees is due to be announced Feb. 1, 2013 and finalized after a nomination-by-petition process that will end Feb. 28, 2013. The election is set for May 4, 2013, with the consecration scheduled for Nov. 2, 2013.
