[Episcopal Public Policy Network] This year, the Episcopal Public Policy Network’s Lenten Series focuses on “Engaging the Beloved Community.” This week, we feature a short video on a young adult Pilgrimage to Ferguson held last fall and sponsored by The Episcopal Church, the Union of Black Episcopalians, and the Diocese of Missouri. Heidi Kim, The Episcopal Church’s Missioner for Racial Reconciliation, says this pilgrimage was framed around the question “how can our church be present in the world through a ministry of racial justice and reconciliation?”

The Pilgrimage to Ferguson allowed young adults to engage realities of racism and injustice in Ferguson and consider how those realities exist in their own communities. As members of the Jesus Movement, we can all consider ourselves pilgrims on a journey of reconciliation. These young adult pilgrims serve as models for how we might encounter the world in a posture of vulnerability and with a passion for justice-making.
