EPPN Alert: Strengthen Nutrition Legislation

Posted Sep 22, 2015

[Episcopal Public Policy Network] This month, U.S. Congress is reviewing legislation that governs the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act. This Act affects millions of low-income children on a daily basis, offering them access to free or reduced-price nutritious meals that advance their health, educational achievement, and physical development. The Episcopal Church has long supported federal nutrition programs, and we are committed to ensuring that child nutrition programs are reviewed, improved, and reauthorized for future generations.

The current law that governs child nutrition programs is set to expire on September 30th, 2015, and we are calling on Congress to swiftly pass a strong child nutrition bill. It is important that this reauthorization increase accessibility to nutrition programs, provide adequate and accountable funding sources, and emphasize strong nutrition standards grounded in scientifically-reviewed data.

Contact your members of Congress today and ask them for a strong Child Nutrition Reauthorization!
