Episcopal Relief & Development is pleased to announce the election of two new members to the Board of Directors. Mr. Miguel Escobar and Dr. David Martin joined the Board of Directors effective January 1.
“Miguel and David each bring unique leadership gifts, perspective and experience, as well as a deep commitment to Episcopal Relief & Development’s meaningful work,” said Teri Lawver, Chair of the Board of Directors. “I am looking forward to working closely with them to continue to elevate the mission of the organization.”
Mr. Escobar is Executive Director of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary (EDS) where he works with the Very. Rev. Kelly Brown Douglas, Dean of EDS, to build a Master of Divinity in Anglican Studies program aimed at forming Gospel-based, social justice faith leaders for The Episcopal Church. Previously, he served as Managing Program Director at the Episcopal Church Foundation and as Communications Assistant to then-Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. Mr. Escobar also serves on Episcopal Relief & Development’s Church Programs Committee.
Dr. Martin is an independent consultant, with broad experience in the software industry, specializing in the technical analysis of software systems. Additionally, he is an elected city council member in Ames, Iowa, and has served in local parishes in the roles of vestry member, chorister, website manager and clergy spouse, most recently at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Martin is also a part of Episcopal Relief & Development’s Administration and Finance committee.
“I am deeply grateful to Teri and all of our board members for generously sharing their knowledge, expertise and energy to further our global mission of working together to create lasting change,” said Rob Radtke, President & CEO of Episcopal Relief & Development. “Miguel and David’s wealth of experience and insight as leaders in the Church, the corporate sector and in their communities will be invaluable as we continue to expand our work in the priority areas of women, children and climate.”
