Episcopal Church Executive Council to meet Oct. 25-28; plenary sessions livestreamed

The Executive Council of The Episcopal Church will convene a hybrid meeting Oct. 25-28 in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. In accordance with agreements made with the hosting venue, continued COVID-19 protocols will be in place to ensure the health and safety of all involved, including reduced in-person attendance of staff and guests.

Executive Council 

The Executive Council of The Episcopal Church, an elected body representing the whole church, carries out the programs and policies adopted by the General Convention. Its job is to oversee the ministry and mission of The Episcopal Church. This includes oversight responsibility for the work done by the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society as well as the disposition of funds and other property in accordance with the canons of The Episcopal Church and the resolutions, orders, and budgets adopted or approved by the General Convention. Also included is oversight responsibility for the work of the Office of General Convention.

The Executive Council is composed of 20 members elected by General Convention (four bishops, four priests or deacons, and 12 laypersons) and 18 members (one clergy, one lay) elected by province. The presiding bishop and the president of the House of Deputies are the chair and vice chair. The other officers of the Executive Council are ex-officio with seat and voice but no vote.

Consejo Ejecutivo 

El Consejo Ejecutivo de la Iglesia Episcopal, órgano electo que representa a toda la Iglesia, implementa los programas y las políticas adoptados por la Convención General. Su labor es supervisar el ministerio y la misión de la Iglesia Episcopal. Esto incluye la responsabilidad de supervisar la labor realizada por la DFMS (Sociedad Misionera Doméstica y Extranjera), así como el uso de fondos y otros recursos de conformidad con los cánones de la Iglesia Episcopal y las resoluciones, órdenes y presupuestos adoptados o aprobados por la Convención General. También incluye la responsabilidad de supervisar la labor de la Oficina de la Convención General.

El Consejo Ejecutivo está compuesto por 20 miembros elegidos por la Convención General (cuatro obispos, cuatro sacerdotes o diáconos y 12 laicos) y 18 miembros (un clérigo y un laico) elegidos por provincia. El obispo presidente y el presidente de la Cámara de Diputados son el presidente y el vicepresidente. Los demás miembros del Consejo Ejecutivo son de oficio, con asiento y voz, pero sin voto.
