Book: Episcopal bishop co-authors book about ‘changing economics by converting economists’Posted Aug 23, 2023 |
Humans have economies in order to survive, but our economics now threaten our very existence on our planet. We need to change or die. Bishop Pierre Whalon with his co-author Dr. John Raymaker has written a book lifting up Bernard Lonergan’s original economics as the model for his method that emphasizes intellectual, moral, and religious conversions.
“Be Attentive, Intelligent, Rational, and Responsible” is Lonergan’s shorthand for this method, which Whalon and Raymaker expand into his eight-fold structure for the work of communities of scholars, including economists. Their intended audience is much wider: anyone concerned about creation care, economic justice, and how they can effect change.
