The Rt. Rev. W. Nicholas Knisely is pleased to announce that Edward E. Biddle will become the next Chief Financial Officer of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, effective January 31, 2022. Mr. Biddle will succeed Dennis Burton, who will be retiring. Mr. Burton will continue at the Diocese through the Spring, as Mr. Biddle transitions from his current position and relocates to Providence.

Mr. Biddle comes to the Diocese from the Masters School in Katonah, NY, where he is the Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations.  He has been at Masters since he retired from JPMorgan Chase in 2015. While at Masters, he was responsible for the management of all aspects of Finance and Accounting and oversaw maintenance and development of the school’s 100-acre campus and 17 buildings.

In addition to his professional accomplishments at Masters, Mr. Biddle was an active member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Katonah, serving variously as Vestry member, Treasurer, and Senior Warden.

Edward Biddle is a graduate of Dartmouth College, with an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Masters School, he held positions at Chemical Bank, Dillon Read & Co. Inc, and JP Morgan Chase. He is married to Ridgely, and has three adult children: Pippa, Martha, and Abigail.

“I am delighted that Ed Biddle will be joining our team,” said Bishop Knisely. “Dennis Burton has done wonderful work for the diocese during his time here and I believe that Ed is exactly who we need to continue to build on the strong foundation that has been the hallmark of our diocese its whole history. Mr. Biddle brings exactly the set of gifts we need for the coming decade of ministry and witness. I’m grateful to the search team and to all who participated in any way during this transition process.”
