Diocese of Nevada announces new assisting bishop

The Standing Commute of the Diocese of Nevada is excited to announce the selection of The Rt. Rev. James Edward (Jim) Waggoner Jr. as our Assisting Bishop. +Jim begins his tenure with us today, April 1, 2019. He will serve one-quarter time performing episcopal functions such as visitations, confirmations, ordinations, and receptions.

Bishop Jim served as the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane from October 2000 to March 2017. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Marshall University and earned master of divinity, doctor of divinity, and doctor of ministry degrees from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. Before seminary, he served in the Navy. He served 21 years with the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia, 12 years in parish ministry, and 9 years on the bishop’s staff before coming to Spokane.
