Diocese of Maine notified of successful canonical consent processEpiscopal Church Office of Public Affairs Posted Apr 11, 2019 |
[April 11, 2019] The Episcopal Diocese of Maine has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry and Registrar of General Convention, the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, that Bishop-Elect Thomas James Brown has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3.
In giving consent to his ordination and consecration, Standing Committees and bishops with jurisdiction attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-Elect Brown ought not to be ordained as bishop, and that his election was conducted in accordance with the Canons.
The Rev. Thomas James Brown was elected Bishop on February 9. Presiding Bishop Curry will officiate at his June 22 ordination and consecration service.
