Church Divinity School of the Pacific to award 2 honorary degrees

[CDSP] Two distinguished Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) alumni will be honored for their leadership and contributions as parish priests with honorary degrees on Oct. 11 at the 2012 Alumni/ae Convocation.

The Rev, Michael G. Dresbach, priest-in-charge of All Saints Episcopal Church and vicar of Mision Cristo Rey, both in Watsonville, Calif., and the Rev. Robert E. Reynolds, priest associate at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio, will receive honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees in ceremonies in All Saints Chapel on the CDSP campus in Berkeley, Calif.

The conferring of degrees will occur in ceremonies beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the CDSP chapel, followed by an alumni/ae dinner in Denniston Commons. The Very Rev. James Richardson of Charlottesville, Va., president of the CDSP Alumni/ae Council, will give the sermon at the Eucharist.

Dresbach, who received his M.Div. from CDSP and an M.A. degree from CDSP and the Graduate Theological Union in 2000, was rector of the largest parish in the Diocese of Panama for 11 years, and was co-director of the Panama Project, which provides a summer of study and service in Panama for U.S. seminarians. CDSP faculty and students have been active participants in the Panama project. Dresbach also has a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco.

Reynolds, who received his M.Div. from CDSP in 1966, hasserved parishes in Walnut Creek, Calif., Salem and Lake Oswego, Oregon, andRichland, Wash. He has been a campus minister, at Willamette University. He has served CDSP as a field education supervisor, president of the Alumni/ae Council and member of the Board of Trustees. Reynolds, a native of Prescott, Ariz.,holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
