Are You Persuaded? In and Out of Being a Bishop: A memoir by Bishop Porter Taylor

Bishop Porter Taylor has published a memoir, Are You Persuaded? In and Out of being a Bishop. This work not only covers his transition from laity to priesthood to the episcopacy; it also describes the key events of this journey: the 2003 General Convention affirmation of Gene Robinson’s election as the Bishop of New Hampshire; the elections of Katharine Jefferts Schori and Michael Curry as Presiding Bishops, and the 2008 Lambeth Conference. Porter Taylor never lost his faith in Jesus or his love of the Church. However, he discovered that his calling required more freedom than the office could provide. He was persuaded that the spirit was calling him to be faithful by stepping outside the episcopacy and returning to his first love of teaching.
