Job Description
Position Summary

Reporting to the Rector, the Vicar will be a senior member of the clergy team. The Vicar will partner with the Rector as a thought partner, organizational manager, and spiritual mentor for clergy and lay staff and the congregation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administration & Management

  • Lead program staff team
  • In partnership with the Director of Operations, oversee day to day operations of the church

Programmatic Leadership

  • Establish St. Luke’s congregational development strategy with tools for measurement
  • Manage staff execution and reporting of the strategy in all programmatic and administrative areas
  • Establish a regular pattern of discernment and renovation of the strategy
  • Organize St. Luke’s parish life to support the strategy

Priest & Ministerial Duties

  • Participate in Sunday worship on a schedule with other clergy
  • Preach regularly
  • Teach in Adult Formation classes
  • Occasional pastoral visits and services

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Episcopal Priest
  • 10 years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, including well-developed presentation skills
  • Must be present for Sunday services and other weekend and evening duties
  • Experience and/or desire to work in a large urban congregation
  • Experience organizing and leading high performance teams and developing individual contributors
  • Strategic & operational leadership experience
  • Collaboration & Influential leadership skills
  • Prior experience successfully partnering with lay leadership
  • Lived experience and commitment to improving equity and inclusive church organizations and community engagement
  • Continuous learning mindset and approach
  • Engaged and effective preacher
  • Theologically trained, humble, and curious.
