|Senior Associate Rector|
|Name of church or organization|
|St. Peter’s Episcopal Church|
|St. Peter’s has a healthy and vibrant membership with a gifted and dedicated clergy team and lay staff. Our congregation is busy and growing, with a multi-generational richness, and we are one of the most active parishes in the Diocese. Many in our parish family are affiliated with the University of Mississippi, so our ministry to the Ole Miss community is an important aspect of our missional identity. We also serve as a resource to the Northern Convocation of churches.
Oxford, Mississippi is an attractive and thriving city, and the population of our city and county continues to increase at the fastest pace in the state and one of the fastest in the country. Our strong public schools, excellent community services, and many cultural amenities make Oxford a desirable place to live and work.
St. Peter’s was organized in 1851, and the first worship service was held in our historic Nave on Easter Sunday, 1860. Since that time, this church community has provided a gathering place for generations of people who often did and still do sometimes disagree with one another, but who find common ground in the worship, fellowship, and service of the church. Together we are committed to continue in our mission “to share the love of Christ which transforms lives.”
To further this mission, we seek to appoint a creative and collaborative Associate Rector to serve as the primary clergy assistant to the Rector, the Rev. Jody Burnett. The Associate Rector is expected to support, help shape, and take an active share in the Rector’s vision for congregational leadership and development. The Associate will be a full participant in the essential practices of the parish, with a concentration on Pastoral Care and Outreach and Community Engagement, and with consideration for other ministries that may reflect the unique gifts of the candidate.
The successful candidate will be a priest of the Episcopal Church in good standing and should have a minimum of three years’ experience in full-time ordained ministry in the congregational setting. This position is full time with a $65,000 stipend, full-family medical insurance coverage, Church Pension Group retirement benefits, and generous professional allowances.
