Founded in 1864, St. Mark’s is a vibrant parish of about 150 families committed to sharing a love of God, of humanity, and of all creation. We are a financially healthy and theologically diverse parish that boasts a strong lay leadership that includes several outreach ministries. The mission of our parish is twofold: Love and Worship God; Love and Serve All People.
The people of St. Mark’s seek a rector who is eloquent and learned in the pulpit; compassionate and responsive to the various communities; comfortable in a community church in a medium sized town on the growing corridor between Atlanta and Columbus, GA; visionary about how we can better serve our community and educate ourselves. Our desire is for someone authentic, with the ability and interest to help our members discern their gifts and articulate a clear vision for all. We welcome applicants who will partner with and empower our active lay ministries.
St. Mark’s parish is in Troup County, approximately 60 miles south of the Atlanta airport, on the western side of Georgia. The LaGrange-Troup County area has a diverse and growing economy. Our community is in motion and gaining momentum, our commitment to hard work, and our unique location in the South. Troup County is home to more Fortune 500 regional sites per capita than anywhere in the United States. It offers many recreational activities, including a large visual and performing arts community, West Point Lake, a vibrant downtown, craft breweries, and a winery. Placing an emphasis on education, LaGrange offers public and private secondary education, including two Montessori schools. Troup County houses three higher education institutions, including West Georgia Technical College, Point University, and LaGrange College. |
