Job Description
St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church seeks a full-time rector. SPR, a congregation focusing on the hospitality Jesus taught us and led by a large and solid group of lay leaders, is a program sized congregation with a diverse membership and inclusive to all. There are three Sunday services ranging from traditional Rite I to a family friendly and lively service to a contemplative service with progressive language. SPR has a robust and well attended church school program with offerings for everyone from the youngest to oldest members. SPR seeks in their next rector a person who values progressive theology and social views, is a confident leader and is an excellent preacher. The next rector should desire to continue the work of raising up strong lay leaders for the church, value the music program and be approachable pastorally. The congregation expects the rector to be a person who is open to being a presence in the wider community.

SPR is located in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, home to the University of Chicago, about six miles from the Loop downtown. The neighborhood is public transportation, pedestrian and bicycle friendly. Also of note in the Hyde Park neighborhood is access to museums, parks, the lakefront and quality schools for students of any age.
