Two Sunday services are offered, one said Eucharist and one choral Eucharist, during which sermons are offered that are biblically based and reflect on the issues and challenges that face Christian practice every day. Excellent preaching is a necessary gift of the incoming rector.

There are many fellowship and formation opportunities offered for everyone, including Sunday School for children, the Episcopal Church Women, a men’s club, choir ministries and other opportunities.

The Washington Park neighborhood, where St. Edmund’s is located, is on Chicago’s South Side. Rich in history, the neighborhood offers historical and cultural attractions including the DuSable Museum of African American History, numerous sports and cultural event venues and is centered among the historic Bronzeville and Hyde Park neighborhoods. Several schools serve the Washington Park neighborhood, and the Chicago downtown “Loop” is only twenty minutes away.

The next rector of St. Edmund’s should be intentional about growth and outreach, enthusiastic about the involvement of children in ministries, and be able to engage vibrantly with the multi-generational membership.
