All Saints by the Sea has been called a beacon of light, offering compassionate refuge, support, and renewal. This characterization is evident in its location, architecture, inclusive hospitality, soulful worship, and celebration of tradition, as well as its receptivity to innovation. In the last two decades, the pandemic and local climatic disaster have challenged our resiliency and commitment. ASBTS has emerged strong, grateful, energized, and ready to engage in creative problem-solving that will lead to new initiatives.
All Saints by the Sea is a beautiful 123-year-old wooden church located 1 block from the Pacific Ocean. The congregation values traditional liturgy and beautiful music, as well as exceptional preaching relating scripture to contemporary issues. We believe the Holy Spirit is working through us to identify a tenth rector who will lead us with love, empathy, humor and compassion.
Our ideal match would be an individual who:
- Gathers children, adolescents, and young families—within and outside the parish— into an experience of a community of faith that adds value to their daily life and is aligned with the needs and desires of busy households
- Is committed to the power of music in opening hearts, filling the soul, and joining people together
- Brings vision, resiliency, and a collaborative demeanor to all the endeavors of clergy, staff, and laity
- Has the insight to recognize the need for change and the wisdom to guide us into action with gentleness and grace
- Has a gift for inspiring, relevant preaching that supports traditional episcopal liturgy and delivers sermons relevant to our world today
- Is an approachable, warm, skilled provider of pastoral care
- Is excited, motivated to build Christian education and family ministries for all ages to learn and grow spiritually
- Believes in a continued emphasis on hands-on outreach opportunities that minister to the most vulnerable and engage with our neighbors in the work of Christ
We are eager to meet the challenges of the future with our new rector. We believe that God’s power working in us can do infinitely more than we can imagine. |
