Emmanuel Memorial in Champaign, Illinois, a vibrant and long-respected parish, is seeking a welcoming spiritual leader who will invite all ages to experience the love of Jesus, is committed to outreach, and can work collaboratively with clergy, staff and laity. We prefer a priest who brings at least 5-8 years of experience as a rector or assistant rector and possesses personnel management, teaching, budgetary and strategic planning skills and embraces the beauty of worship and liturgy. We are looking for a rector who has an appreciation of a strong music program and who enjoys and encourages fellowship and fun.
The twin cities of Champaign-Urbana in east central Illinois are nearly always listed as one of the top ten places to live in Illinois. We are conveniently located on interstates leading to Chicago, Indianapolis and St. Louis. The highly ranked University of Illinois is located in Urbana-Champaign and both cities have award-winning park districts, and strong public and private schools. We also have highly recognized health centers, a variety of restaurants offering an array of diverse local and international cuisines, and a number of cultural, entertainment, and sports venues.
Our church, known by many as “the church with the red doors”, is located in downtown Champaign and was designed by Ralph Adams Cram. The property includes a Great Hall and an adjacent two-story building with offices, classrooms and meeting spaces. Another wing, formerly a rectory, was badly damaged in a fire five years ago, is now completely restored with the space rented to a social service agency that focuses on helping families recover from trauma.
