Job Title
Name of church or organization
Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church
Pembroke Pines, FL
Job Description
Founded as a mission in March 1956, Holy Sacrament became an organized parish in 1979. As the church grew, so did its vision. Located at the crossroads of four south Florida communities, we are easily accessible to residents of Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Davie, Cooper City and beyond. So although we are close to both Miami and Fort Lauderdale, we are definitely not a “big city” urban church.

In the years since 1979, we have become known for our work in the field of Christian outreach and have touched the lives of many in South Florida, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Belize. Our congregation is culturally diverse with approximately seventy-five percent of Caribbean heritage. Individuals are well-educated with the majority being cradle Anglicans. We are a warm, welcoming, and fun congregation. We are passionate about service to others and acceptance of all who seek God or a deeper knowledge of God. We have open and curious minds, and value learning and community.

Our search for a new rector was put on hold with the outbreak of the pandemic, but now we are ready to begin the journey of finding a priest who:

  • Will build on the deep spiritual growth and discernment that we have experienced in the face of adversity brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Is committed to our Anglican faith and tradition, but yet is able to appeal to the next generation of young Episcopalians as well as those seeking Christ for the first time.
  • Is a caring and pastoral shepherd who ministers to the souls of those dealing with the intense joys and sorrows of life.
  • Inspires and educates with thought-provoking preaching and scripture-based teaching.
  • Fully understands and appreciates the importance of a vibrant and dynamic music ministry (especially in a multi-ethnic community like South Florida), as well as technology in ministry.
  • Embraces our evangelism efforts and is willing to participate in and spiritually lead our missions at home and abroad.
  • Works well with people who possess a variety of talents and nurture leaders for the work at hand, all to the greater glory of God.
  • Is an excellent communicator and administrator, especially during times of rapid change or conflict.
  • Is a good steward of our physical campus (including its multiple buildings and assets), our financial resources, and has a record of successful fundraising.
