|The Rector at St. Thomas-Bath is the spiritual leader, principal minister of the sacraments, rector and chief executive officer of the parish, with responsibilities and functions traditionally associated with the office, set forth in the canons of the church. The rector works with the Vestry and is accountable to the Bishop. The rector supervises church staff and volunteer ministers; is ex-officio member of every parish organization, including the Vestry, and may appoint individuals or groups to specific responsibilities as needed.
The rector is responsible for establishing standards and schedules for the ministry of Word and Sacrament, leads the congregation in prayer, praise and celebration.
The rector is expected to be an active citizen of Bath or Beaufort County and a contributor to the mission of the church in the Diocese.
The rector is responsible for effective parish performance in planning, program design and implementation, general administration, communications, organization and delegation.
