| A. We want a Rector who will care for us pastorally, be present in our woes and our celebrations. B. We want a Rector who will challenge us with tough questions arising from our discipleship but who will also stand beside us in our questioning and our doubts. C. St. Stephen’s is blessed with a fine staff and we want our Rector to be someone who will nourish and respect not only stipendiary staff but also value and enable lay ministry and lay leadership. D. St. Stephen’s is composed of people who know what it is to be hardworking, efficient and proficient in their various professions – we look for nothing less in a priest. We know there is a tendency to focus inwards to be complacent but we want a Rector who will celebrate with us the joy and profundity of Episcopal worship and teaching and be intentional in reaching out and welcoming into our community. E. We want a Rector whose sermons are based on God’s Word and whose sermons are empowered by God’s Holy Spirit. Above all, we want a Rector who is a friend of Jesus and who will be a friend to us and to the many others who will join this vibrant, proud and vigorous community. |
