It is essential for our future leaders to be ones who care for our flock, giving comfort, support and encouragement. The ideal leader will be one who is willing to engage with us, both with concern, compassion, and confidentiality, but also with humor and fellowship. We need to be able to laugh and to enjoy life; however, as with any organization, there will always be conflict, and the leader needs to be able to mitigate issues in a way that yields the most durable solution, with the focus being what is at our core: serving and worshipping God. St. Stephen’s is a strong community with a rich history of tradition. An effective leader will maintain the traditional positives and optimize our potential by helping us explore new ideas that support our traditional faith. We realize this is not the role of one person, but rather the role of all of us as one corporate body. Our next rector will have the skills and gifts to lead us to a place where we build on the past for an even better tomorrow.
