|The Episcopal Church of the Ascension|
|Our parish is seeking an individual who is spirit-filled, knowledgeable of scripture, accepting of others, creative, motivated, genuine, caring and funny. It is important to us that guiding and assisting our congregation in building our youth programs, from toddlers to college students, as well as increasing new adult members, is a strong focus for the new rector. We have been praying for someone who lives, preaches and teaches based on the Gospel. It is our hope that this person will guide us to continued growth and to be active in following God’s command to ‘love our neighbors as ourselves’, to be a ‘visible sign of a spiritual and inward grace’, and who models ‘respecting the dignity of every human being’. We are seeking someone who welcomes all to the Lord’s table and who recognizes each individual as a child of God, not just as a label, in being and becoming a part of Ascension.
Our parish is seeking someone who has the ability and genuine interest in fulfilling the chaplaincy role for Canterbury students at the University of Southern Mississippi as part of the rector’s responsibilities. We are looking forward to the future of Ascension and have been praying that our new rector will be as enthusiastic about growing our congregation as we are, both spiritually and physically, as the new rector and the congregation listen to and fulfill God’s purpose for this parish.
