|Saint Luke’s Parish|
|Saint Luke’s Parish (SLP) in Darien is now accepting applications for our next Rector. We are located in Lower Fairfield County, Connecticut about 40 miles northeast of New York City with easy access by mass transit. SLP identifies as a Broad Church. We are a warm and welcoming community committed to learning God’s plans for ourselves and the world. We are blessed with much loved associate clergy and strong lay leadership.
As we seek a new Rector, we are looking for a spiritual leader whose relatable sermons inspire us to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ; an energetic leader who can invigorate an already enthusiastic congregation; a warm and welcoming personality and community builder who will help us continue our commitment to Pastoral Care; a fundraiser who will help us maintain the financial foundations necessary to support a large and vibrant parish; a visionary who can help navigate the demands of a rapidly changing cultural landscape; and, a leader who is skilled in managing the challenges of administering a parish the size of Saint Luke’s.
The Eucharist and Holy Scripture are central to our Sunday worship. Rite II is used at 8am and at 10 am (where a full choir participates). At 5 pm a Come As You Are (CAYA) service offers an alternative style of worship in a more relaxed and family friendly setting. Sacred music is an important part of our style and practice. The adult choir is made up of 4 staff members and 25 parishioners, and 31 children sing in 3 youth choirs. Our CAYA services features contemporary worship music led by a talent five-piece band.
Our “Lifeworks” programs seek to follow the example of Jesus via many faith-in-action projects which encourage intergenerational participation with parishioners and neighbors near and far. For example, Homefront makes repairs to local distressed family’s homes. Community Supper is prepared by Parish volunteers and provides around 180 meals weekly for $1 to parishioners and neighbors from surrounding communities seeking food and fellowship. We have frequent service trips to Cuba, Minnesota, and Maine. Person-2-Person, which is headquartered on our grounds, is the largest food pantry and clothing center in Fairfield County and brings hundreds of clients from impacted communities to SLP each week.
