Job Description
Christ Episcopal Church, founded in 1831, is a destination church in downtown Dayton. We come from diverse backgrounds and are drawn here by the people and our various ministries. We are called to love and serve God, giving of ourselves as we worship, wrestle with questions of faith and nurture the Christ in all people. We are proud to be an urban church. We committed to stay downtown when many people were abandoning the inner city. We practice our love for Christ and our fellow human through our outreach and social justice ministries, both locally and globally. In 2015, we became the only faith community in the world to sign on with the United Nations Global Compact. In 2016, we became the first church in Ohio to be internationally certified as a Fairtrade congregation.

We look to our new Rector:
• to be our spiritual leader, advisor, and shepherd
• to welcome everyone – to welcome and embrace the LGBTQIA community
• to embrace a collaborative relationship with our strong lay leadership
• to challenge us and connect real-life events to spiritual discovery
• for deeply spiritual and compassionate pastoral care
• to be involved and supportive of our many forms of outreach and ministry
• to embrace the challenges and opportunities of being a downtown church
• to be a voice for social justice in the community
In the fall of 2030, we will begin our third century in downtown Dayton. Will you join as we prepare for the journey?
