|St. Paul’s Church|
|St. Paul’s Church is a beacon of hope, refuge and caring, in Camden. It is a place where the practice of Christian faith is deep and real, where God is lifted up and so are ordinary people. Our God is at the center of all that we do. Worship, therefore, is our priority. Our core congregation of 160 baptized persons includes people of all ages, half under the age of 25. The congregation mirrors the Camden community with both urban and suburbanites of African American, Afro-Caribbean, West African, and European origin, and of varying economic backgrounds.
We seek a pastor who understands and appreciates the pattern of spiritual life which is found in the Book of Common Prayer and who can with joy embrace our congregation with all its ethnic, economic, educational, and generational diversity. We want a priest who will embrace our inner-city parish and understand that pastoral care of the extended community is as much a part of the ministry to which he/she is called as is the core congregation.
We look for a priest who will encourage and build on our network of ministry support, clearly represent the city in all its glorious variety, and cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect with those who have not shared our experience. We want a priest who will participate in the life of the city, embrace the possibilities of redevelopment, but be aware of its potential side-effects for injustice.
