Job Description
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin, Texas seeks a priest to be the primary leader of the worshipping community at the parish’s second campus, Good Shepherd on the Hill, and to lead the parish’s outreach ministries. This priest will work with a clergy and staff team to minister at The Hill. This priest will also lead the discernment around and implementation of transformative outreach ministries for both of the parish’s campuses.

Candidates should feel called to engage the community in the diverse neighborhoods of southeast Austin and should demonstrate competency in ministry in a variety of cultural contexts. This priest should be excited by trying new models for ministry and should be comfortable with successes and ready to learn from failures. Candidates should have a heart for outreach and be able to help the parish imagine and implement new transformative outreach ministries.

This priest will also have a leadership role on the parish’s Windsor Road campus, a corporate-sized campus in one of Austin’s most affluent neighborhoods, and the priest must effectively communicate to Windsor parishioners the vision and value of ministry at The Hill. The Hill shares its campus with Hillside Early Childhood Center, a ministry of the parish that expands access to high-quality early childhood education in southeast Austin; and this priest will serve as chaplain to Hillside.

Good Shepherd is one of the largest Episcopal congregations in the country and is committed to ministry on two campuses with a wide diversity of parishioners. A rectory adjacent to The Hill will be provided for this priest.
