Job Description
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is searching for a part-time organist/choirmaster.

Duties include:

  • Playing for one Sunday morning service with choir during the program year (September –May) and without choir during the summer (June – August). This includes 5 hymns, chanting of the Psalm, choir offertory anthem, and service music.
  • One weekly adult choir rehearsal during program year.
  • One weekly children’s choir rehearsal during program year.
  • Supporting the Youth and Children’s Music Ministry for occasional offerings at the 10:45 a.m. and other services, including VBS in June.
  • Additional seasonal services are also part of the job requirements.

Seasonal services would include All Saint’s Day (Nov. 1), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, The Great Vigil of Easter, Easter Sunday, and the Day of Pentecost.

  • Collaborating with the Rector for seasonal liturgical planning and weekly meetings with the clergy in the preparation of Sunday worship;

While the position requires keyboard proficiency (piano and organ) and familiarity with and sensitivity to Episcopal liturgy, equally important are a passion for worship, a deep joy in musical diversity and variety, and an ability to attract and inspire persons to participate in the music ministry of the church. The choir at presents consists of 17 voices.

  • Hours per week 10-15
  • Salary is negotiable based on education and experience.
  • Organ is a 2013 Allen Bravura L227 2 manual/33 stops,

Dual Expression and Crescendo pedal.

  • Piano is a 1992 Kawaii KG-2E
  • 3 octave Schulmerich Handbells
