Job Description
Saint David’s, a vibrant, faithful and multigenerational Episcopal parish located in the Kent neighborhood of Washington, DC, seeks a dynamic and proactive Part-Time Office & Communications Assistant to join our team of forward-leaning, positive and talented staff and lay leaders.  The OCA will design and create all internal and external parish communications and assist the Director of Operations, clergy and staff in welcoming and assisting parishioners and visitors.  The ideal candidate is a creative, well-organized and collaborative communicator with print and online experience. Essential Functions:

Team Member | Make us better because you are part of the staff team (we’ll do the same)

Collaborate with staff, lay leaders and neighbors

Join and add to a healthy church ecosystem

Share your gifts, even if they aren’t listed below

Attend weekly staff meetings and annual parish meeting

Flexibility to occasionally work outside core hours

Attend Sunday services at least once a quarter to spend time with parishioners

Be prepared to love your job


Communications Support | Communicate the faith and joy of this parish back to itself and out to our neighbors

Design and produce all worship bulletins and forms

Create and distribute weekly email newsletter – Little Things

Collaborate with stewardship committee on marketing materials for annual campaign

Work with consultants and vendors on signage, branding and parish marketing

Oversee and maintain church website and social media accounts


Office Support | Welcome and strive to help all those who find us by phone, internet, car, foot or bike

Greet and welcome visitors and parishioners

Maintain parish calendar and lay leadership schedules

Collaborate on parish events and activities

Help with mailings, phones and other general administrative support as needed

Collegial and welcoming manner

Detail oriented, self-motivated and ability to flex and adapt to change

Experience in print and online communications

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Working knowledge of the Episcopal Church and our liturgies

Experience and fluency in:

Microsoft Office

Adobe or Publisher

Canva, Mailchimp, Squarespace and imovie

Social Media, Livestreaming, etc.


Organizational Structure

Reports directly to Rector

Reports to Director of Operations on office specific work

Works closely with Rector, clergy, staff, vestry, and parishioners
