|Historic St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Salisbury, announces the opening of the position of Director of Music and Organist. This is presently a 29 hour per week position, working closely with the Rector towards the development of a first-class music program. St. Peter’s is a growing parish with about 160 worshiping parishioners over three services (7:45am spoken service with organ music; 9am blended worship with organ and folk group; and 11am worship with choir and organ) with an adult choir of 15, bell choir of 8, and two alternating worship bands for the blended worship.
The church has a new music suite, fine choral library with over 700 entries, and a new 61 rank Walker Organ, custom designed in the English/Anglican tradition with full principal and diapason choruses on each division, 7 ranks of strings, full tuba and festival trumpet.
We seek a candidate with specific interests in the English/Anglican tradition, organ repertoire and choral experience. This position is anticipated to become full-time with possible growth and additions to the music program such as the possibility of a boys & girls music school, concert series, etc.
