Job Description
St. John’s Episcopal Church is a welcoming, inclusive community that shares the goodness of God’s love. We seek a full-time Interim Priest to provide pastoral care and minister to adults, younger people, and families as we continue to grow. We have a rich array of traditional and contemporary services, contemplative offerings, and community outreach.

Location

Our church was built in 1891 and designed by Ernest Coxhead. We are in the historic district of central Petaluma, a lovely town in Sonoma County.

Tasks

  • Preach and lead regularly-scheduled worship services.
  • Support Bible Studies, Godly Play, contemplative offerings, music and outreach programs.
  • Provide Pastoral Care.
  • Work with the Vestry and Wardens in ongoing administration including supervising the Administrator.
  • Help our Parish to continue to grow.
  • Continue to build relationships in the wider community, especially regarding interfaith relations and social justice.
  • Work the Canon to the Ordinary throughout the interim process as the church searches for their next rector.

  • Ability to understand and engage with congregants of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Eagerness to be a supportive presence in our diverse neighborhood.
  • Good communications, interpersonal, and technical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to preach and reach parishioners of all ages.
  • Devotion to God and to Christ.
