Our Children, Youth, and Family Ministry programs provide space for families of all shapes and sizes come together to: Worship God, Love Our Neighbors and Follow Jesus. The Director’s leadership shapes the ministry with engagement and education, developing activities and programs to guide our young parishioners on their faith journey, bring parishioners of all ages to worship together, and connects with youth organizations as a community partner.
Purpose of Position
To oversee and coordinate all ministry offerings and programs to children, youth, and families at Good Shepherd Church. To develop relationships with youth organizations in the local area outside church walls, serving as a youth advocate and community partner.
Part-Time – 15 hours/week
Areas of Responsibility:
Lead, develop, and teach faith education programs throughout the year, to include recruiting, training, and supporting our Children’s Chapel and Nursery Leaders, and teaching our Youth Group Bible Study.
Develop relationships with youth organizations in the local area outside the church walls, as a community partner and fellow youth advocate.
Coordinate and publish volunteer schedules for Chapel Leaders, Crucifers & Acolytes; make changes and find substitutes as needed.
Develop program of monthly Youth Group (5th-9th Grade) activities designed to foster engagement within the greater parish faith community and local community.
Administer and enforce the Good Shepherd Safe Child Policy in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our youth and children participants.
Work with the Rector to evaluate and select appropriate activities and educational materials to grow engagement within our programs.
Provide input for the monthly magazine, weekly E-News, social media, bulletin boards, and displays, annual report, website, and any additional educational, marketing, or promotional materials for Ministry activities.
Maintain email contact with youth, parents, and volunteers as needed, to include a weekly mailing list communication.
Maintain contact with other youth ministers in the Diocese for peer support and collaboration.
