||The Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace (Episcopal) in Gettysburg, PA seeks a Director of Music. This is a part-time salaried position with an expected average time commitment of up to 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to guide the music ministry of a vibrant parish with a rich history.
The responsibilities of the position include: serving as organist during services; directing the choir and the handbell choir in weekly rehearsals and during services; providing musical enrichment to Sunday school students; and organizing music for special services. Candidates with an interest in expanding the musical offerings of the parish to the community are especially encouraged to apply.
The parish’s musical equipment includes a 3-manual Möller/Rodgers hybrid pipe/digital organ, a Steinway B piano, a recently refurbished set of handbells, and a set of choir chimes. Rehearsal spaces are equipped with additional pianos.
The requirements for the position are a bachelor’s degree in piano or organ studies, and training or experience in choral conducting. Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate music degree or an American Guild of Organists certification of “Colleague” or higher. In addition, a familiarity with the liturgy and musical traditions of the Episcopal Church is highly desirable.
