||The Director of Communications & Youth/Family Ministry maintains and oversees the church’s communications vehicles, Facebook, website maintenance, Twitter and Instagram. Additional duties include general administrative, planning and supervisory responsibilities for the Adult, Youth and Children Christian Formation. The Director of Communications & Youth/Family Ministry reports to the Rector and assists in carrying out the mission of the parish.
• Working Sunday through Thursday from 9AM – 5PM – the work week is 40 hours.
• Communications with parents to include upcoming lesson plans, topics covered in Sunday School, and making suggestions for activities or resources that parents and families can do at home to promote Christian formation
o Leading the Episcopal Youth Corp (EYC) with directed weekly activities to include both participation at St. Aidan’s and at the Diocesan level.
o Vacation Bible School (working with a team of parishioners in planning, recruiting of helpers, communications, registrations, and follow-up). VBS is usually in early June. Works with Director of Music to coordinate the music components
o Christmas Pageant: (working with a team of parishioners in planning, recruiting of helpers, communications, registrations, and follow-up). Works with the Director of Music to coordinate the program.
o Coordinating with the Director of Music for support of the children’s choirs and music program.
o Working as a contributing member of the St. Aidan’s Church Staff, including regular attendance at weekly staff meetings and weekly check-ins with the rector.
o Working with and assisting the Christian Formation Vestry liason to develop and implement curriculum for the Family Ministries
o Identifying, recruiting, orienting, supporting and scheduling teachers for Sunday school
o Ensuring that all teachers and assistants are in compliance with Safeguarding God’s Children – coordinates with the Director of Family Ministries for those volunteers needing that training for older youth.
o Planning and leading teacher commissioning (Aug or Sept) and teacher appreciation (May)
o Communications-keeping the parish up-to-date on Youth and Family ministry activities through the e-newsletter, website postings, weekly bulletin announcements and bulletin boards. Possessing the ability to engage and maintain all social media platforms to include Facebook, Instagram, Website updating and Twitter
o Classroom and storage space care: ensuring maintenance, appearance, cleanliness of classrooms and organization of storage space
o Preparing and maintaining the Family Ministry budget.
• Planning and coordinating the ministry of the following:
o Nursery coverage which includes responsibility for the recruitment and training of volunteers, maintenance of toys and supplies; age-appropriate activities; scheduling paid caregivers and volunteers. Providing a warm and welcoming experience to new families bringing their children to the nursery and follow up with them afterwards.
o Pre-K to through college age
o Children’s Chapel (direct participation, support and oversight)
o Eucharist/communion class at least once a year for young children
• A Christian with a knowledge and working understanding of scripture, Anglican/Episcopal church traditions and liturgy
• A bachelor’s degree is required with related church experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to take the initiative
Hours and Compensation:
Average of 40 hours per week. Position includes pension with healthcare benefits.
