||St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is seeking to hire a half-time Director of Children & Family Ministries. St. Andrew’s mission is to reveal God’s love by nourishing the community through acceptance, worship, and service.
This congregation spans ages of infants to the elderly, comprised of young families and retirees, incorporates people who’ve always been Episcopalians and those who walked through our doors last week, with a spectrum of opinions, backgrounds, hopes, and joys. We seek to draw everyone into closer relationship with God and each other.
The Director of Children & Family Ministries, working under the supervision of the Associate Rector, will be responsible for children’s ministries, including Sunday school, the Nursery, volunteer coordination, and community building among families with children ages 0-12 years old. The Director will be responsible for family fellowship events, as well as creating an active and supportive program for children and parents. This role is not responsible for St. Andrew’s Preschool (Preschool Director) or youth ministry (Director of Youth Ministry, 13-18 years old), but may include coordinating with those ministers.
Hours: 17-19 hours per week
Status: Regular Part-time, Non-exempt.

Knowing the People & Hospitality:
Conducting a listening campaign to hear what young families desire.
Implementation of programming based on the listening campaign that will foster fellowship among children, parents, and volunteers to nourish young families, including social and educational opportunities.
Shepherding new families, helping them feel welcome and wanted. Creating a hospitality process to contact and communicate with new families in coordination with volunteers.
Acting as a liaison to promote inter-generational activities in order to nurture interaction and build community.
Volunteer Cultivation & Oversight:
Nurturing leadership, volunteerism and participation in existing programs (including but not limited to Sunday programs and annual Nativity Pageant).
Volunteer coordination, organization, training, and oversight. Tracking the compliance of the Episcopal Church’s training in the Prevention of Child Abuse and Child Sexual Misconduct required of all employees and volunteers.
Supervising all aspects of children’s Sunday programs, including the Nursery and Sunday school, the Sunday school calendar, weekly communication, registration, logistics, selecting and maintaining materials, lessons, and curriculum, and
planning, including conducting an annual fall meeting of volunteers to kick-off the program year.
Collaboration with fellow staff and volunteers of St. Andrew’s, including weekly staff meetings, and Worship and Liturgy Committee meetings, and coordinating with the Music director for the children’s choir.
Implementation of Vacation Bible School with Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
A successful candidate will be:
A Christian, preferably an Episcopalian, with a heart for hospitality.
A natural collaborator, and relationship builder who is passionate about creating community among children, youth, and families.
Open to all expressions of contemporary family life, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ families.
A creative self-starter with strong organizational and logistical skills.
Experienced in developing and running successful intergenerational programs for children and youth.
Able to maintain a budget appropriately.
Enthusiastic to cultivate a network of volunteers.
Able to work evening and weekend hours on a regular basis, with the exception of five Sundays per year.
A leader and listener whose vision inspires and incorporates others.
An excellent verbal and written communicator.
