Person Specification
The Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions is the external face of General Seminary among prospective students of all types. The right person for this position must be energized by theological education, the work of the church, and the education and formation of Christian leaders, lay and ordained. From their enthusiasm, they must be able to recruit students to the seminary. A vibrant Christian faith is expected.This is an important role! This person will be tasked with increasing the size of the entire enrollment funnel, from prospects and inquiries all the way to applications and admitted students. To succeed in this job, the person must be an effective and persuasive communicator who is able to actively recruit students to the seminary. This involves three elements: i) effectively and enthusiastically telling the story of General Seminary; ii) cultivating our existing relationships to churches, denominations and judicatories and also exploring new markets and identifying new networks from which new groups of potential students may be drawn; and iii) working with individual prospective students to lead them through the enrollment process.

Theological education is a changing field and this person must thrive in situations of ambiguity. They must be able to deliver positive enrollment gains with minimal guidance or outside assistance, in a market that is becoming increasingly competitive. While this person will need to be able to effectively work with minimal supervision, the right person for this position will be energized by relationships and being part of a team.

Job Duties
The job duties include three primary areas: recruiting students, strategic leadership, and cultivating networks.

Recruiting students

● Develop content for all print and electronic promotional materials for all degree and certificate programs.
● Design and coordinate all prospective student campus-visits.
● Walk all students through the entire enrollment process.

Strategic Leadership

● Design, write and implement a comprehensive recruitment and marketing plan for all degree programs.
● With Dean/President, faculty, and Academic Dean identify areas where new academic programming may be needed to increase overall enrollment.
● With the Director of Financial Aid, develop a financial aid awarding matrix and process that maximally leverages financial aid to drive enrollment.

Cultivating networks

● Identify new networks from which prospective students may be drawn. This may include college and university chaplaincies, ecclesial networks, parachurch organizations, social (or traditional) media outlets, or other organizations.
● Cultivate existing relationships with dioceses, churches and judicatories, both inside and outside of The Episcopal Church
● Travel, locally and nationally, to diocesan conventions, discernment conferences, college and university recruitment fairs and other yet unspecified gatherings for the purpose of recruitment and network cultivation.

Requirements
● Vibrant Christian faith;
● Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
● Close familiarity with theological education;
● Ability to travel 10-20% of the time;
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
● Ability to build rapport, maintain positive, professional relationship with students, staff and faculty;
● Excellent ability to prioritize, organize and manage details

Desired
● An undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, or a related field;
● 3-5 years of experience in higher education admissions;
● Familiarity with the use of an SIS or CRM for Enrollment Management purposes;
● A graduate seminary degree;
● Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills;
● Familiarity with The Episcopal Church
