|Community Youth Coordinator|
|Name of church or organization|
|Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist|
|The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist seeks a dynamic and compassionate Community Youth Coordinator (CYC) for a new outreach program to junior & senior high aged students in Aptos, California – a beautiful seaside town on the Monterey Bay. This innovative, energetic person will have the opportunity to build the program from the bottom up and launch this new ministry to the community.
The CYC will work with a committee consisting of local middle and high school students, parishioners at St. John’s, and members of the wider Aptos community to discover community needs, and in response to those needs, to develop and implement opportunities for youth to learn, play, grow and try new things in a safe and supportive environment outside of school. The CYC will coordinate, promote, and manage the program’s activities and serve as a mentor and role model to the youth who participate.
This is NOT a traditional “church youth group leader” position, but is a community-wide outreach to youth who may not be Christian or even religious. The coordinator must be comfortable in a multicultural and interfaith environment and willing to engage and respect diversity in all forms. At the same time, the CYC will also encourage the youth and parents of St. John’s to participate in the program, serving as a “bridge person” between St. John’s and the wider community, facilitating connection and communication between them.
