Job Description
t. Luke’s is seeking a full-time Communications and Publicity Manager who will design, brand, promote and coordinate creative and technical support for internal, neighborhood, city and national web, digital media, and print communications for the Church of St. Luke in the Fields.

Job Responsibilities:

The Communications and Publicity Manager shall:

Have primary responsibility for understanding, enhancing and communicating St. Luke’s core mission, vision, values and brand in an effective PR and marketing strategy across multiple media platforms.
Serve the mission of the church and proactively support, serve and enhance the communication needs of the staff and parish.
Proactively engage in extending reach of St. Luke’s communications networks and profile within the diocese, national Episcopal Church, and in the wider New York community.
Design, maintain and enhance a consistent branded look in all communications.
Collaborate across all ministries to ensure core, common, and consistent communication.
Design, develop, produce and oversee distribution of ongoing church communications, including but not limited to quarterly print/digital newsletters (The Gazette), the annual report, and other material as requested by the Rector. (Utilizing Desktop publishing for hard copy and online publishing or suitable alternative platforms and programs as agreed in discussion with Rector).
Update St. Luke’s website calendar ensuring timely communication of weekly materials.
Monitor and update website content as needed, oversee general website functionality, provide website support for church email blasts.
Design, produce and disseminate weekly email blasts and other special communications as needed.
Compose copy as needed and edit all copy for communications, digital media and website.
Design internal and external promotion/advertising, building signage, posters, special mailings, print and web advertisements.
Monitor and manage social media presence.
Design, develop and extend publicity and community engagement around events including, but not limited to, Conversations that Matter and other programming intended for neighborhood and city-wide audiences.
Implement any requested fund raising efforts linked to social media or utilize online fund raising channels with direction and coordination from Rector and Development Manager.
Work closely with the Rector and other clergy and Development Manager.
Design production of Stewardship materials as part of the parish stewardship team.
Develop and support volunteers as needed for content development and production of all parish program materials.
Maintain strictest confidentiality regarding all church information.
Craft press releases as designated by the Rector, Senior Associate or other designated staff.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Rector or staff as needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training in communications, webpage layout.
Proficient in MS Word, Publisher, Excel; experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
Prior experience in graphic and web design and/or book publishing required.
Current experience and familiarity with social and digital media platforms, including emerging technologies, apps and programs, is essential.

The successful candidate will be mission-oriented and narrative-driven, wanting to tell the story of who St. Luke’s is and what we do.
